While families in the United States celebrate Thanksgiving this month, here in Australia we celebrated Melbourne Cup Day. A lot of people attend the horse race, but even more Aussie families enjoy spring carnivals, BBQs, or enjoying the warmer weather. (That's right, it's spring here in the southern hemisphere.) Regardless of where you are, we all have that one thing in common. Family. If your family spans a wide age gap, there's one activity that you can do together--coloring! You might be thinking, What? That's for kids! But coloring offers benefits for everyone. For Kids:
For Teens:
For Adults:
My children like having a family coloring competition, we all have to choose our favorite picture to color and depending on the criteria - speed, color, staying in the lines, you can see who is the winner. It is a great indoor or holiday activity. Coloring books also make fantastic gifts as well - you can either add them to something else you have purchased or pair them with pencils, crayons, glitter, markers to make the gift extra special. If interested in adding some new coloring books to your household or to give as a gift, remember to check out my coloring books - for kids and adults.

Halloween with toddlers is a blessing and a curse. They look so cute in their adorable costumes. One year, my oldest wore a pumpkin costume, and it was every bit as adorable as the catalog description promised. But whoever created this costume probably never potty trained a toddler. For each "trick or treat" we heard at least two "I have to go pottys". Lesson learned! The next year, I did my homework. Here are some quick and easy costume ideas:
Things to avoid:
Another suggestion is choose a trick or treat route where you know some of the neighbors along the way so you can call in for a pit stop if the need arises. Also, bringing a spare pair of leggings or trousers - just in case - is always a good idea. Don't forget any costume can be dressed up with a fun hat or face painting. Speaking of potty training and Halloween, if you or a parent you know is going through this stage with kids, check out my potty training books. I know this stage can be a little tricky sometimes. Happy Halloween!
Is your child obsessed with unicorns? Not sure about you but my daughter absolutely loves them. From clothes, to soft cuddly toys, to food and even her toothbrush! If it has a majestic unicorn on it she is there. Rainbow ones in particular.
She is the reason I created my latest coloring book "Cool, Clever, Creative Unicorns". This coloring book is all about unicorns but has a slightly different take. It shows these magical animals doing a range of cool things that children may like to do, like playing sports or a musical instrument, doing math, gaming, playing with friends and more. It has some fun with unicorns and shows that they don’t just chase rainbows all day, they are fun, cool, creative and clever. They like to learn and try new things, just like kids today. If you are interested, check it out on Amazon! I've been busy over the holiday period creating my next kids coloring book. I'm excited to now share it with you - "Cute Animal Coloring Book For Kids Ages 3-8" is now available on Amazon.
It is filled with brave lions, tigers, and cheetahs, plus purrfect pets, fantastic farm animals and cute sleeping sloths. The coloring book contains 50 unique drawings ranging from easy to expert, enabling your child to choose the level that appeals to them. Hope you like it! #kidscoloringbook #coloringbooks Reflecting on 2020, a year that this time last year you could never predict or imagine. Whilst the events over the course of the year have taken a toll on so many people, I always try and seek out the positives. For me, the lockdowns and time at home have enabled me to enjoy more quality time with my children and actually have dinners together. A small but a welcome change.
Similarly, by removing the travel time to and from work, I have been able to spend more time doing what I love which is writing books with two new picture books published and three coloring books (I actually took the plunge and decided to give this a try) in 2020. The highest number of books I've ever created in a year. I would also like to say a big thank you for all those who have read or purchased my books - your support means so much and I hope they gave you some enjoyment. Who knows what 2021 will bring, but I hope for everyone reading this, you and your families have a better year. Wishing you all a very happy and safe 2021! My latest coloring book went live today and just in time for Christmas. Inspired by the events of 2020, the ups and downs, the lockdowns and the craziness, thought it was time to take back control and have a bit of fun.
